Please join us  April 1st as we usher in the Spring at VIRginia International Raceway’s Open House  – featuring our Ronald McDonald House Charities® benefit. This is the public’s opportunity to take their vehicles onto the historic VIR track while helping others at the same time.
You may have attended races at VIR in the past, but this is your chance to examine the many other aspects of VIR that make it truly unique.  Admission for the Open House event is free. There will be food tastings and beverages, morning and afternoon skeet shooting exhibitions, trolley rides to points of interest, free laps on the VIR Kart Track, Baja 400HS vehicles on the Off-Road Courses, raffle prizes and much more. You can examine our handsome Villas, Oak Tree Spa, Pit Lane Suites, The Lodge, and the beautifully restored 1840s Plantation House – featuring the Oak Tree Tavern restaurant and Connie’s Pub. TMI will provide hot lap sessions in an Aerial Atom for $10 per session with all proceeds going to RMHC. Don’t miss this great opportunity to bring the entire family for a fun-filled day of exploring the wonderful facilities at VIR.
The Benefit Laps will be held on Friday, April 1st from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the last group taking the track at 3:30 PM that day. The cost is $25 per 20 minute session. Payment of $25 in cash or major credit cards will be accepted.All donations will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of North Carolina® and RMHC of Southwest Virginia® and are eligible for tax deduction.
Also at the event, VIR will be selling advance tickets for the May 13-15 Bosch Engineering 250 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series & Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. VIR will make a $5 donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities® for each 3-Day ticket sold that day.

Vettes Doin’ Charleston

Vettes Doin’ Charleston

vettes-doin-charlestonRTP Corvettes will be out in force again this year at Coastal Corvette’s Vettes Doin’ Charleston car show over the weekend of April 15-17, 2011.  This is CCCC’s 4th annual event and benefits the National Corvette Museum, an organization near and dear to all of us in the Corvette family.

This year’s show will have nine classes which will include all Corvette generations.  CCCC will be offering Peoples Choice Judging as well as Scored Judging this year. To enter the Scored Judging there will an additional fee of $5.00 and you can enter both portions of the show. CCCC will have a special guest as their judge for “Best of Show”; Maj. Gen. James E. Livingston, USMC (Ret.), Medal of Honor. There will be show pins, more than forty plaques plus trophies for Best of Show, Best Engine, Best Paint, Best Interior, along with door prizes. In addition, there will be vendors, National Corvette Museum items for sale, and a special door prize drawing for National Corvette Museum members. The show will be held at the Tanger Outlet Center in North Charleston, South Carolina.

April & May Meeting Changes

Our April monthly club meeting will be held on April 10 instead of the 17th as many club members will be attending the ‘Vettes Doin’ Charleston show.  We will be meeting at the regular time at The Angus Barn.

The May 15 meeting will take place at Carol Woods in Chapel Hill.

From Route 40-Exit 266 –
At light, turn left.
Go past three lights (Not counting light from exit ramp. First light will be entrance ramp to Route 40).
At fourth light, turn left onto Weaver Dairy Road.
At second light, turn left into Carol Woods (street opposite entrance is Silo Road).
Watch your speed!
Go straight at cross-road into parking area on left.

Use covered walkway to enter building into lobby. Walt and Peg will meet you and escort you to the
Community Room on the lower level.
